Memphis, Tenn. - The 54th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl is a rematch of the season-opening game between Tulsa and Iowa State. The Cyclones won that game, 38-23, in Ames, Iowa on September 1. The game will kickoff at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium at 2:35 pm Saturday afternoon.

"It's not always that you get `do-overs', but we'll have that in our game against Iowa State and will work to have a different outcome from the first time we played them this season," said Tulsa Head Coach Bill Blankenship.

In that first meeting, Iowa State out-gained the Hurricane 441 to 358. Both teams gained 160 yards on the ground, while ISU threw for 281 yards to 198 yards for Tulsa in quarterback Cody Green's first game in a Golden Hurricane uniform. Tulsa was without starting linebacker Shawn Jackson, sitting out the first of a three-game suspension, in that contest, while Tulsa's leading receiver from the 2011 season, Byron Burnham, went out in the third quarter with a season-ending knee injury.

This time around Jackson will be in the Hurricane lineup, while the Cyclones will be without all-Big 12 linebacker Jake Knott and leading rusher Shontrelle Johnson. Since that first meeting, the Cyclones also have a different quarterback in the lineup as red-shirt freshman Sam Richardson appears to be the starter for the Liberty Bowl. In just three games, Richardson has completed 62-percent of his passes for 412 yards and seven TDs, while rushing for 187 yards and a 6.0 average per carry.

Tulsa is making its 19th Bowl game appearance, its' third straight trip to a bowl game and the eighth time in the last 10 years. This is Tulsa's second-ever trip to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The Hurricane played in the 2005 game and defeated Fresno State 31-24 on Dec. 31, 2005.

Iowa State is making its 12 appearance in a Bowl game and the third time in the last four seasons.
