The Tulsa Golden Hurricane, winners of the Conference USA Football Championship, will make their 13th bowl game appearance in school history this year at the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on December 31, 2005 in Memphis, TN. Tulsa will face former Western Athletic Conference rival the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs hold a 4-0 series advantage over the Hurricane, as the two teams met in four consecutive seasons, 1999 through the 2002 campaign.

Tulsa has an 8-4 overall record and 6-2 C-USA mark, while Fresno State also finished the regular season with 8-4 and 6-2 records. The Bulldogs took #1-ranked USC down to the wire in a thrilling 50-42 loss in mid-November.

This year's AutoZone Liberty Bowl Football Classic will offer plenty of "Good Vibrations" and "Fun, Fun, Fun" for everyone as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member The Beach Boys bring a bit of California to Memphis. About Memphis, Tennessee
Sun-drenched days and calm, clear nights are Memphis' official invitation to the world. From the soulful lyrics of soul pounding live music, to the dozens of festivals, attractions, museums, and mouth-watering cuisine, the "Birthplace of Rock and Roll" and "Home of the Blues" is officially calling you home. Elvis Presley's "Graceland" Mansion should be on every tourist's list of attractions.

Why Memphis? First, it's the people. Memphis is consistently named one of the friendliest cities in the U.S. Then there's the food: all kinds, and lots of it. Barbecue is definitely king and every May you can find hundreds of thousands cooking up a storm during the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest on the banks of the Mississippi River. But every day of the year, you'll detect the sweet aroma of barbecue, wet and dry, in restaurants, cafes, and corner eating spots all over the city.
