Tulsa Golfers Place Seventh at the SunTrust Gator InvitationalFeb. 11, 2007
Gainesville, Florida - The Tulsa men's golf team finished in seventh place at the SunTrust Gator Invitational on the par-70 University of Florida Golf Course. Tulsa, ranked 17th nationally, carded a final round 287 after opening with rounds of 290 and 294 on Saturday. Sophomore Nicolas Geyger was Tulsa's top finisher with a 28th place performance with a 218 total after a round of 71 today. Seniors Brett Myersand Ryan Henry each had scored of 219 to tie for 39th place. Henry had a round of 73, while Myers shot a round of 78. Senior Mitch Cohlmia turned in Tulsa's best round of the day with a one-under par 69, but was disqualified from Saturday's second round. Senior Sam Korbe, who captured the individual title last year at this event, finished in 52nd place with a 225 total following today's round of 74. Florida claimed the team title with a 54-hole total of 850, followed by Florida State in second place at 861. Wake Forest (862), Coastal Carolina (864) and Georgia Southern (866) rounded out the top-5 teams. Florida's Manuel Villegas captured the individual title with a total of six-under par 204.
