Tulsa Men Golfers in 8th Place at UTSA/Oak Hill Invitational

San Antonio, Texas - The Tulsa men's golf team sits in 8th place after two rounds at the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational in the first tournament of the spring season. The Hurricane carded identical rounds of 296 for a 592 total at the par-71 Oak Hills Country Club on Monday. The Hurricane was led by the duo of Matt Mabrey and Mark Mumford, who finished the first day in a ninth-place tie after carding 36-hole totals of 144. Mumford scored a two-over par 73 in his first 18 holes and then an even-par 71 during his second round, while Mabrey shot a round of 74 to start the day and ended with a round of one-under par 70 to enter Tuesday's final 18 holes tied with his teammate. North Texas holds a three-stroke lead over Oklahoma, 571 to 574. Host UTSA (575), Baylor (577) and Wichita State (583) round out the top-five teams after the first 36 holes. Tulsa's 592 is just nine strokes behind the Shockers for fifth place. Tulsa's Chris Worrell had a one-over par 72 on his first 18 holes, but struggled in second round action with an 81, to finish the day in 57th place with a 153 total. Logan McCracken with a score of 155 is in 64th place, followed by Colton Staggs in 67th place with a 156 total to close out Tulsa's scores.
