San Antonio, Texas - The Tulsa men's golf team finished in sixth place at the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational to kick-off the spring tournament season. The Golden Hurricane carded a final round five-over par 289 to finish the 54-hole tournament with a score of 881 on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Matt Mabrey tied his season-best performance with a fifth-place finish at the par-71 Oak Hills Country Club course.

Oklahoma captured the team title by one stroke over second round leader North Texas, 862 to 863. Baylor (869), Wichita State (862) and UTSA (873) rounded out the top-five teams.

Mabrey carded a final round two-under par 69 to finish at even-par 213 for three rounds. After bogeying the first hole, Mabrey birdied the par-4 third and fourth holes to take a one-under par score into the fifth hole. A bogey on the par-4 eighth hole left him at even par after nine holes. Mabrey knocked in birdie putts on the par-5 15th hole and the par-3 18th hole for his round of two-under par.

Tulsa junior Mark Mumford placed 12th overall for the Hurricane with a three-round total of four-over par 217. He carded a final round two-over par 73, with only two bogeys on the day while shooting even par on the other 16 holes.
