Jacksonville, Florida - After the opening round at the John Hayt Invitational, the 38th-ranked Tulsa men's golf team sits in 6th place in the 15-team field at the par-72 Sawgrass Country Club on Sunday. The Hurricane carded a score of 292 and is tied with UAB and seventh-ranked Florida, while North Florida holds the team lead after turning in a 12-under par 276 total.

The Hurricane duo of Logan McCracken and Colton Staggs scored even-par rounds of 72 and sit in a 25th place tie after the first of three rounds. Mark Mumford is on shot behind with a one-over par 73 and is in 33rd place, while Matt Mabrey and Chris Worrell are tied for 43rd place after shooting scores of 75 today.

McCracken birdied his first hole at the par-4 10th and again began his back nine with a birdie at the par-4 first hole. He had one bogey each on his first nine holes and his second nine holes to finish the day at even par. Staggs, also starting the round on the 10th tee, birdied his first two holes and again knocked in a birdie putt on the par-5 eighth hole and closed out the day even par as well.

North Florida's 12-under par total is a tournament record, while UNF senior Kevin Phelan also carded a tournament record with an eight-under 64 to lead the individual competition.

Second round action takes place on Monday, while the tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 rounds.
