Tulsa Still in 12th Place After Two Rounds at ASU Thunderbird Invitational

Tempe, Ariz. - The Tulsa men's golf team carded a seven-over par 291 in today's round, matching yesterday's 291 for a two-round 582 total for 12th place at the 42nd Annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz. The tournament will conclude with the final round tomorrow.
Host and 32nd-ranked Arizona State gained three-strokes today for a 10-stroke advantage (543) over second-place Iowa State (553). Forty-sixth ranked Iowa has a two-day 555 total for third place, while Arizona (558) is in fourth place.
Junior Matt Mabrey carded a team-best 67 on the day to move into 19th place with a two-round 141 total. Senior Mark Mumford is one-stroke back in 24th place and classmate Logan McCracken shot a 78 today for a 149 total and a 62nd-place mark. Colton Staggs (150) and Matthew Marquez (158) are in 65th and 77th-place, respectively.
Individually, Arizona State's 27th-ranked Jon Rahm has a two-round 126 total and a six-stroke lead. Alex McMahon of Arizona posted the best round of the day at nine-under par 62 for a 132 total and second place, while Iowa State's Scott Fernandez is in third place (135).
