Tulsa Men Golfers in Fourth at 2013 Desert Shootout

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Tulsa men's golf team is tied for fourth place heading into the final round of the 2013 Desert Shootout, while low-scorer Matt Mabrey is tied for seventh after two rounds at the par-71 Palm Valley Golf Course. The Golden Hurricane carded a 290 on Friday to total 564 for the first two rounds, and sits five strokes off the lead. Mabrey shot a 70 in Round 2 for a two-round 3-under par 139. Chris Worrell shot 73 in the second round to tie for 13th with a 139, while Colton Staggs and Logan McCracken are tied for 21st with two-round totals of 142. Staggs shot a 74 and McCracken shot a 73 on Friday. Mark Mumford carded a 74 in Round 2 to total a 146 in the first two rounds, and sits tied for 51st place. Tulsa is tied with Wichita State, one stroke behind third-place Baylor (563), and three strokes behind Illinois (560). BYU holds the team lead with a two-round 559. Individually, Wichita State's Hunter Sparks holds a two-stroke lead after shooting identical rounds of 66 Thursday and Friday to total 132 for the tournament. The final round takes place on Saturday.
