Tulsa Men Golfers Finish in 8th Place at the 2013 Desert Shootout

Goodyear, Arizona - The Tulsa men's golf team finished in eighth place at the 2013 Desert Shootout with a 54-hole total of 865, while Colton Staggs and Matt Mabrey tied for 16th place individually at the par-71 Palm Valley Golf Course.
The Hurricane carded a final round 301 on Saturday. BYU won the team title with a score of 838, while host Denver finished second with a total of 848. Baylor (850), Wichita State and Southern Utah (858) rounded out the top-five teams.
Staggs turned in Tulsa's best round today with a score 72 for a 214 total, while Mabrey carded a score of 75 for his one-over par score of 214. Logan McCracken finished in 40th place with a score of 218 after today's round of 76. Rounding out Tulsa's scores were Chris Worrell in 50th place with a 220 score and Mark Mumford finishing in 71st place with a total of 224.
Individually, BYU's Zachary Blair ran away with medalist honors by turning in a 15-under par score of 198 after a remarkable seven-under par 64 on Saturday.
Tulsa will be back in action next at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, April 8-9.
