Tulsa Men's Golfers Finish in 12th Place at River Landing IntercollegiateApril 13, 2008
Wallace, N.C. - The Tulsa men's golf team concluded the River Landing Intercollegiate with a 12th-place mark at the par 72 River Course in Wallace, North Carolina on Sunday afternoon. TU carded a team-best 295 in the third and final round, after posting 296 and 302 totals in the first two rounds, respectively. Duke, the nation's 16th-ranked team, won the team title with a 13-under par 851, followed by #35 North Carolina State (860), Memphis (864), #18 Wake Forest (868) and #8 Florida State (870) rounding out the top-five teams. Three Golden Hurricane golfers carded a 73 in today's final round, including junior Nicolas Geyger who finished 16th overall with a score of 217. Classmate Rob Laird was one stroke back in 20th place, while freshman Ville Vaisanen carded a 228 for 64th place. Ryan Brooks and Philip Reiser finished 70th and 80th, respectively. Duke's 52nd-ranked Michael Schachner and Wake Forest's 11th-ranked Webb Simpson share the individual title with identical 209 totals. TU will return to action next Sunday-Tuesday, April 20-22 at the Conference USA Championships in Texarkana, Arkansas.
