Texarkana, Arkansas - The Tulsa men's golf team sits in seventh place with a three-over par 291 after the first round at the Conference USA Championship at the par-72 Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Arkansas. Memphis shot an 11-under par 277 for first place, followed by Houston (282), #26 UAB (283), Southern Miss (286) and #19 UCF (287) to round out the top-five teams. Junior Ryan Brooks had a three-under par after the 16th hole, but hit a double bogey on the 17th hole and concluded the round with a his fifth birdie for a two-under par 70 and a seventh-place mark. Sophomore Rob Laird sits one stroke back in 11th place, while junior Nicolas Geyger hit a one-over par 73 for 22nd place. Freshmen Ville Vaisanen and Philip Reiser are in 48th- and 49th-place, respectively. Six players carded a four-under par 68 in the first round to tie for first place, including Paul Apyan (Southern Miss), Robbie Greenwell (Memphis), #49 Ian Rochester (Memphis), Brady Shivers (Houston) #55 Brad Smith (UAB) and #81 Zach Sucher (UAB). The second round will be played on Monday, while the third and final round will be played on Tuesday.
