Tulsa's Mark Mumford in 6th Place at C-USA Men's Golf Championship

Texarkana, Arkansas - The Tulsa men's golf team is in ninth place after the opening round of the 2013 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship. Tulsa carded a score of 297 on Sunday at the par 72, 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club.
Tulsa junior Mark Mumford turned in a score of two-under par 70 and sits in sixth place overall for the Hurricane. Mumford had two birdies on both the front nine and back nine, while suffering one bogey on the first nine holes and second nine holes as well.
Sophomore Matt Mabrey and junior Logan McCracken had identical rounds of one-over par 73 and are tied for 22nd place. Sophomore Colton Staggs is in 58th place after a score of 81 and senior Chris Worrell is in 60th place after carding an opening round 83.
There's a four-way tie for first place between SMU teammates Bryson Dechambeau and Mario Clemons, Houston's Curtis Reed and UTEP's Martin Simonsen, all tied with four-under par scores of 68.
SMU jumped out to an early seven-stroke lead over second-place UCF on day one as the Mustangs carded a score of 10-under par 278. UCF (285), Houston (286), UTEP (289) and Memphis (291) round out the top-five teams.
Tulsa will tee-off on Monday morning from the 10th tee beginning at 9:20 am for second round action.
