Fayetteville, Arkansas - The Tulsa men's golf team moved from ninth to sixth-place after second round action at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional on Friday. Early morning fog delayed the start of play by 30 minutes, but that didn't seem to affect the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa finished the day with a four-over par 292, 11 strokes better than Thursday's opening score of 303 and tied for the second-best round of the day. The Hurricane sit just four strokes behind that all-important fifth-place slot that is currently held by Kent State with a 36-hole total of 591.

At the completion of tomorrow's final 18 holes, the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Finals.

Tulsa is tied with SMU for sixth place at 19-over par 595 at the par-72 Blessings Golf Club. Host Arkansas moved up from fifth-place to overtake first round leader Illinois with a five-under par 283 and sits one stroke ahead of the Fighting Illini, 573 to 574. Texas (583), Oklahoma State (590) and Kent State (591) round out the top-five teams.

Tulsa junior Mark Mumford turned in a score of one-under par 71 today and has a total score of one-over par 145 for 11th place. Mumford, starting the day on hole 10, was two-under par after his first nine holes with birdie putts on holes 10, 11, 16 and 18, but suffered a double bogey on the par-3 15th hole. He had two bogeys on his second nine holes and one birdie.

Senior Chris Worrell turned in a score of two-over par 74 and has a 149 total for 29th place, while Colton Staggs is in 34th place after turning in Tulsa's best score of the day with a two-under par 70. He had an opening round 81 and sits at seven-over par 151. On Thursday, Staggs birdied his second hole, the par-4 third, then triple bogeyed the par-5 12th. The Tulsa sophomore gathered himself after the triple and proceeded to birdie holes 13, 14, 16 and 18. He then pared his final nine holes for his two-under par score.

Junior Logan McCracken is in 44th place with a score of 154 after turning in a round of 80 today, while sophomore Matt Mabrey is in 55th place. He carded a round of 77 for a 157 total.

Individually, there's a three-way tie for first place with SMU's Mario Clemens, Arkansas' Austin Cook and Stephen F. Austin's Mitchell McLeroy tied at four-under par 140.

The final round takes place on Saturday as Tulsa will tee-off from the first tee beginning at 7:50 am.

The NCAA Championship Finals will be conducted May 28-June 2 at The Capital City Club Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Georgia.
