Greensboro, NC - Bill Brogden's men's golf team will be making the school's 10th trip to the NCAA Championship Finals and first time since 2007 as the Golden Hurricane placed fifth at the NCAA Greensboro Regional on Saturday afternoon. Tulsa shot a final round 288 to close out the 54-hole tournament with an 878 total at the par-72 Grandover East Golf Course.

The Hurricane beat out #23-ranked Duke's 881 total score for the fifth and final qualifying spot to the NCAA finals.

The five teams from the Greensboro Regional advancing to the NCAA Championship Finals, May 29-June 3, include Liberty, Florida, Auburn, Lamar and Tulsa. 32nd-ranked Liberty led from wire-to-wire and finished with a four-over par score of 868, while #17-ranked Florida placed second with an 870 score and was followed by #5-ranked Auburn (874), Lamar (877) and Tulsa (878).

Tulsa sophomore John Young Kim finished the tournament in seventh place with a 54-hole total of one-over par 217. He scored a one-over par 73 today, but had an opportunity to finish stronger. Kim was two-under par heading into his final two holes, but double-bogeyed the par-4 eighth and bogeyed the par-4 ninth hole to close out his final two holes at three-over par.

Freshman Colton Staggs turned in Tulsa's best round of the day with a score of three-under par 69. He finished the tournament with a 221 total for 16th place. Staggs, beginning the day on hole 10, bogeyed three straight holes - No. 15, 16 and 17 - before sinking an eagle putt on the par-5 18th hole. He made the turn at one-over par and got to four-under par after birdies on holes 3, 4 and 5, and then knocked in his second eagle of the ay at the par-5 sixth hole. Staggs, however, closed out his superb round with a bogey on the par-4 ninth hole.

Tulsa junior Chris Worrell carded a final round 71 for his 222 total and finished in 23rtd place overall. Worrell was one-over par after his first nine holes, while hitting birdie putts on the par-5 sixth hole and par-4 ninth hole for his one-under par score of the day.

Freshman Matt Mabrey finished in 28th place after scoring a round of 77 today for a 224 total, while junior Mark Mumford's 227 total score was good for 44th place. Mumford had Tulsa's fourth counting score today with a three-over par 75.

Individually, there was a three-way tie for medalist honors between Liberty's Robert Karalsson, SMU's Matt Schovee and Campbell's Vaita Guillaume. The trio each tallied three-under par scores of 213.

Five teams advanced today from each of the six regional sites to comprise a field of 30 teams at the NCAA Championship Finals, May 29-June 3 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
