TU Sits In Third After Day One of Northern Intercollegiate

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - The University of Tulsa men's golf team sits in third place overall midway through competition at the Northern Intercollegiate, which is being held on the par-71, 6,954-yard Rich Harvest Farms Golf Course.
There were two rounds scheduled for Saturday, but inclement weather at the beginning of the day caused the first round to be delayed, thus the second round was halted due to darkness.
The Golden Hurricane opened play with a first-round total of 292 (+8), and the team is +2 midway through the second round. TU sits in third place at +10, trailing UCF (-3) by 13 strokes and Northern Illinois (+5) by five strokes.
Sophomore John Young Kim (Los Alamitos, Calif.) leads the way for Tulsa, as he is one-under par for the tournament and tied for fourth place. He fired an opening-round 68, and is +2 after nine holes in the second round.
Freshman Matt Mabrey (Little Rock, Ark.) is tied for 14th at +2. He shot a first-round score of 72, and is +1 through 12 holes in the second round.
Junior Chris Worrell (Enid, Okla.) fired a 74 in the opening round and is +4 for the tournament after shooting +1 through 12 holes in the second round. He is tied for 23rd.
Senior Stephen Carney (Tulsa, Okla.) opened with a 78, but he is +5 for the tourney and is tied for 23rd after shooting two-under par through nine holes in the second round.
Senior Arie Fauzi (Selangor, Malaysia) also opened with a 78, and he sits at +9 and is tied for 49th.
The Golden Hurricane will complete competition Sunday.
