Edmond, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's golf captured its first tournament title in just its third event this fall as the Golden Hurricane captured an 11-stroke victory at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

Tulsa shot a final round 295 and outdistanced second place Baylor by 11 strokes with an 889 total for 54 holes. Baylor finished at 900 for the event and was followed by SMU (905), LSU (917), Oklahoma and Ohio State (919), Arkansas (923) and Michigan (924) in the eight-team field.

The victory is the first tournament win for the Hurricane since capturing the Western Athletic Conference Championship in May 2005. The regular season title is the first time Tulsa has claimed a regular season crown since winning the Matlock Invitational in February 2003.

For the Hurricane, senior Sam Korbe and sophomore Nicolas Geyger finished one-two for medalist honors. Korbe grabbed his second career victory by shooting a final round 76 and finishing one-stroke ahead of Geyger. Korbe had a six-over par 219 score, followed by Geyger's seven-over par 220.

Korbe entered the day with a two-stroke lead, while Geyger carded a final round 72 for the Hurricane and moved up from sixth place after two rounds. Geyger outdistanced a trio of golfers by two strokes.

Senior Mitch Cohlmia also had a top-10 performance as he finished the event in eighth place with a 225 total after today's round of 72. Tulsa also had two top-20 finishes by seniors Brett Myers and Ryan Henry. Myers finished with a round of 77 on Tuesday for a 227 total to place in a tie for 14th, while Henry finished in 20th place with a 228 total after scoring a round of 75 today.

Red-shirt freshman Ryan Brooks, playing as an individual, is in 30th place in the field of 46 participants with a score of 234 after turning in a round of 77 today



Tulsa is in action next at The Landfall Tradition, October 27-29, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
