Tulsa Men in Second Place at The Landfall Tradition

Geyger in fourth place for Hurricane

Wilmington, NC - The Tulsa men's golf team finds itself in second place, after picking up 11 strokes on tournament leader Iowa during the second round of play at The Landfall Tradition. TU shot a second round score of 13-over par. For the tournament the Golden Hurricane is 33-over par and trails tournament leader Iowa by 11.

Defending champion Nicolas Geyger remains in contention to repeat after a solid second round. Geyger played well on the par 5's recording birdies at the par 5 5th hole and the par 5 16th on his way to a one-over par round of 73. Through 36-holes Geyger is three-over par and finds himself one stroke off the lead in fourth place heading into Sunday's final round.

Senior Rob Laird, is looking for his second top-10 finish of the season. Laird struggled on his opening nine, going out in six-over par, but he bounced back strong coming in. He birded his 10th hole of the day the par 4 1st hole and played his last nine holes of the day at even par to finish with a round of 78. He is tied for 10th place with a total score of eight-over par.

Freshman Stephen Carney and senior Ryan Brooks each improved during their second 18 holes of competition and they find themselves tied for 24th place at 11 over par. Carney improved seven strokes on day two shooting a two-over par round of 74. Meanwhile Brooks improved three strokes, shooting a three-over par 76. Freshman Arie Fauzi also improved four strokes, shooting a second round score of 80. Fauzi is tied for 45th place

TU returns to action tomorrow morning for the final round of competition from the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington N.C.
