Tulsa's Rob Laird Named to C-USA All-Academic Golf Team

Irving, Texas - University of Tulsa junior golfer Rob Laird was named to the 2009 Conference USA Men's Golf All-Academic Team, the league office announced today.
Laird, from Tulsa, Okla./Jenks High School, has maintained a 3.68 grade point average in finance.
In 30 rounds of competition this year, Laird has posted a 74.4 stroke average to rank third on the Tulsa roster. He has placed among the top-15 in five tournaments this season, including a season-best performance of 11th place at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. Laird is coming off of a 13th place performance last week at the River Landing Intercollegiate.
Laird has been a C-USA All-Academic honoree for three years, and serves this year as member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He has been named to the Dean's List seven semesters and one semester was honored with the TU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Other selections are Warren Straub (East Carolina), Brad Benjamin (Memphis), Robert Burrow (Rice), Adam West (UAB) and Herbert Day (UTEP).
Nominees must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and competed in 75 percent of tournaments scheduled this season. Candidates must be at least a sophomore class standing.
