Texarkana, Arkansas - The Tulsa men's golf team is one of 11 teams set to tee off Sunday morning as the 2008 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship gets underway at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Arkansas. The championship consists of 54 holes on the par 72 6,935-yard course over three day, Sunday-Tuesday, April 20-22.

Tulsa will be among the last group off the tees on Sunday, beginning at 10:30 am. The Hurricane is paired with UAB and UTEP for the first round.

Tulsa is the defending champion and is led by junior Nicolas Geyger. He has won two tournament titles this year and four in his three-year career. Geyger, who has a team-leading 73.8 stroke average, has placed among the top-20 in a total of five of nine tournaments this season.

Geyger tied for second at last year's C-USA Championship with rounds of 71-75-67 for a 213 total at the same course as this year's championship event. The Hurricane had a 20-stroke victory last year over second-place UAB.

In addition to Geyger, sophomore Rob Laird, with a 75.6 stroke average, and junior Ryan Brooks, with a 76.9 stroke average, as well as freshman Ville Vaisanen and Philip Reiser, will compete for the Hurricane.

UCF enters the tournament as the favorite. The Knights are ranked 19th nationally by Golfweek, as juniors Greg Forest and David Johnson are ranked among the nation's top-65 players.
