Tulsa's Inglis Named WAC's Golfer of the Week
April 23, 2001 Denver, Colorado - For the second straight week, University of Tulsa freshman golfer David Inglis was named the Western Athletic Conference men's golf Player of the Week for tournaments played April 16-22, announced today by the league office. For the second week in a row, Inglis turned in the best finish among active WAC golfers. At the Ben Hogan Cougar Classic hosted by BYU, the Scotland native placed third in a field of 88 golfers. Inglis fired a 68 in the final round to finish with a 4-under-par 212, three strokes behind the leader. It was his fifth top-five finish and his 11th top-20 finish in his first collegiate season. In 11 events this season, Inglis has been Tulsa's top finisher eight times. Inglis is ranked 38th in the most recent Golfstat Cup Rankings and is listed 39th by GOLFWEEKmagazine.
The award for Inglis marks the third time this spring in which he has earned the WAC's weekly honor. He was also named the WAC's Golfer of the Month in October.
