TU Men's Golf Team Places Sixth at Purina Classic Oct. 10, 2000 St. Charles, Missouri - The Tulsa men's golf team finished in sixth place at the 15-team Purina Golf Classic at the Missouri Bluffs Country Club in St. Charles, Missouri on Tuesday. As a team, the Hurricane scored rounds of 297-281-288 on the par-71 course for a 54-hole total of 866. Tulsa finished 13 strokes behind tournament champion Baylor, while host Missouri, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas State rounded out the top-five. For Tulsa, freshmen David Inglis and Logan Goettsch placed 8th and 13th, respectively. Inglis entered the final day in a first-round tie with a score of 139 after shooting rounds of 72-67, and today carded a final round 73 for a one-under par 212. Goettsch shot a final round of even-par today after a 75 and 68 on Monday. Kansas' Travis Hurst finished in first place with a seven-under 206 total, while Missouri's Mark McBride and Baylor's Jimmy Walker tied for second place at one stroke back. Tulsa sophomore Billy Lowry finished in 25th place with a six-over par 219 total, while junior Kevin Henry placed 56th with a score of 225 and freshman Neil Trimm finished in 61st place with a three-round total of 226.
Tulsa is in action next at the Duke Golf Classic, October 15-16.
