32nd Ranked TU Men's Golf Team Looking to Continue Success at The Landfall Tradition
Oct. 22, 2008
For the past two years The University of Tulsa men's golf team has enjoyed great success at The Landfall Tradition. In 2006, TU blew the field away, capturing the title by an impressive 26 strokes. Last season, the Golden Hurricane finished in a tie for first place with Virginia Tech., but after a tiebreaker the Hookies were able to take home the medalist trophy. This weekend, Oct. 24-26th, TU returns to Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina looking to capture another title. Leading the Golden Hurricane at The Landfall Tradition the past two years has been Nicolas Geyger. In 2006, he shot a one-under par 215 to finish in a tie for first place with fellow TU golfer Mitch Cohlmia. Last season nobody could come close to Geyger. He opened the tournament with his best round of the season a five-under par 67. He went on to shot nine-under par for the tournament, en route to a five-stroke victory. Geyger returns this weekend, looking to have similar success. Joining Geyger for the Golden Hurricane will be seniors, Ryan Brooks and Rob Laird, and Freshmen Arie Fauzi and Stephen Carney This year's 12-team field at The Landfall Tradition consists of five teams ranked in the top 75 of the most recent Golfweek rankings.
