Entering his first season as a graduate assistant coach for the Golden Hurricane men's soccer team is Brian Riggs.
Riggs will be responsible for recruiting, player development, organizing team travel and serving as the head administrator for Mac's National Soccer School.
Riggs, 26, comes to Tulsa from Dove Canyon, Calif., where he was an assistant coach at El Toro High School from 1997-2000. He also coached the Mission Viejo Pateadores Soccer Club for two years (1998-99) and the Irvine Strikers Soccer Club during the 1999-2000 campaign. Riggs led the Strikers to the state semifinals before falling to the eventual state champions.
Off the field, Riggs worked for three years in the operations and sales division of Shea Homes, a residential homebuilder in Southern California.
As a collegian, Riggs was a four-year letterwinner at Saint Louis University from 1993-96. Riggs started 18 of 33 games at the defender position. He helped the Billikens earn three NCAA Tournament appearances and three straight conference titles from 1993-95. During the 1994 campaign, Saint Louis was the top-ranked team in the nation for several weeks. In 1996, Riggs was the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award at SLU.
A 1997 graduate of Saint Louis University, Riggs received his bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance.
He is currently working on his master's degree in business administration at TU.
