Cristian Mata scored two goals and Akeil Barrett added one for the Tulsa men's soccer team as they captured a 3-1 win over Memphis in an exhibition contest on Thursday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.

Cristian drilled in a goal from 12 yards out from the left side off a cross from Byron Knowles-Ramirez at the 35:25 mark and the Hurricane took a 1-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Barrett scored up the middle from three yards out off a pass from Tony Rocha in the 52nd minute. Austin Gross pulled the Tigers to within one as he knocked in a goal from 12 yards out at the 76:01 mark, but seven minutes later Cristian tallied his second goal off an assist from Ray Saari to make the score 3-1.

Cristian had a team-best four shots, while Barrett and Bryce Follensbee each had two attempts. Cody Mumma came up big for Tulsa with 10 saves.

Memphis had a 13-11 lead in shots, including an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal, and took a 12-5 lead in corner kicks.

The Tigers were led by Fakhry Khulfan with three shots, all of which were on goal, while three others had two attempts. Conor Hurley picked up four saves for Memphis.

Tulsa will host Central Arkansas in an exhibition game on Saturday, August 24th beginning at 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
