Tulsa, Oklahoma - Southwest Missouri State's Kevin Ten Eyck scored the game-winning goal with just over five minutes remaining in regulation to give the Bears a 2-1 victory over No. 14 Tulsa in exhibition play in front of 522 at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium.

Ten Eyck broke loose on the right side and nailed a shot past sophomore goalkeeper Dominic Cervi at the 85:22 minute mark and the Bears held off Tulsa in the final minutes.

The Bears led for a majority of the game after scoring a first half goal. However, Tulsa knotted the contest at 1-1 when senior Kyle Brown played a ball to sophomore Eric Burkholder on the right side. Burkholder immediately blasted a ball past SMS goalkeeper Lance Parker at the 66:46 mark.

Tulsa subbed early and often and played many of its newcomers, and a total of 19 Golden Hurricane players received playing time in tonight's game. TU out shot the Bears, 16-8, and held an 11-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Although Tulsa out shot Southwest Missouri State, 8-2, in the first half, it was the Bears who made the most of their opportunities when Ryan Anderson broke free down the middle of his attacking third and beat Hurricane redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey in a one-on-one dual at the 36:13 mark to put his team ahead 1-0.

TU opens its 25th season of men's soccer against inner-city rival Oral Roberts at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6:00 p.m. The Hurricane leads the overall series, 17-1.

Fans with a ticket stub from the TU-ORU contest will receive $2 off any ticket for the nationally televised Tulsa-Minnesota football game, which begins at 9:15 p.m. that same night.
