Tulsa's ninth-ranked men's soccer team took 19 shots, seven of which were on goal, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Hurricane dropped a 2-0 decision to #6 Creighton on Friday night at Morrison Stadium in Omaha, Neb. TU starts the season off 0-1, while the Bluejays are 1-0.

"The first half was back-and-forth and both teams had opportunities to score," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "I thought we started the second half well and created some chances, but we gave away the ball in our own third and they countered and got a goal. We attacked more in the final 10 minutes, but that opened it up for a counter attack on the second goal as well. Overall it was a good performance against a good team, but it is disappointing to not come away with better results."

Fabian Herbers scored the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute off a pass from Timo Pitter from five yards out on the right side, and Pitter netted his own goal in the 87th minute off a cross from Vincent Keller.

Cristian Mata led the TU attack with five shots, while Kyle Cumings and Akeil Barrett added three attempts each. Cody Mumma logged all 90 minutes between the posts and earned six saves.

CU had a 21-19 lead in shots, including an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal, and both teams had four corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 1st against Drake. Game time is set for 7:00 pm in Des Moines, Iowa.
