Senior midfielder Joe Salem scored the lone goal for the 12th-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team, as TU tied Seattle, 1-1, on Friday night in the Radisson Tulsa Airport Classic at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane moved to 1-0-1 on the season, while the Redhawks own a 0-1-1 mark.

"We came out and asserted ourselves early in the first half and did a good job of pressuring Seattle," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We controlled the entire first half, but weren't able to get that second goal. In the second half it opened up and they put us under some pressure. Overall I am disappointed with the tie, but we didn't give it away. This is a good learning experience and it will help us continue to get better."

Salem's goal came at the 37:08 mark after he punched in his own rebound off the goalkeeper. This was his first goal of the season and fifth of his career.

Sean Morris evened up the score in the 77th minute off a free kick, forcing two overtime periods before ending the contest with a tied score.

Corey Albertson led the Hurricane charge as he attempted six shots on the night, while Jose Parada came in off the bench and had five shots and Austin Neil had four attempts. Andy Aguilar spent all 110 minutes between the posts and earned seven saves.

TU finished with 27 shots, including 10 shots on goal, and seven corner kicks, compared to SU's 14 shot attempts, eight of which were on goal, and three corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 6th against #1 Akron beginning at 7:35 p.m. at the Hurricane Stadium.
