Oct. 19, 2011
Tulsa, Oklahoma - Corey Albertson scored two goals, while Stephen Roberson and Leonard Smith each had a goal for Tulsa in a 4-1 win over FIU on Wednesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 5-9 on the season and 1-4 in Conference USA, while the Panthers fell to 4-7-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the league. "I thought we communicated a lot better and played with a lot more energy," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We've been combining like that for a lot of games, but haven't got the goals. Tonight we got the goals. Corey and Stephen were a threat all night long. We worked hard and it was a well-earned win. Our midfield group was good on the day, Miguel played very well for us and overall I am very pleased with the result." Roberson scored from the top of the box at the 19:29 mark off a cross from Jake Dobkins to give TU an early lead. In the 30th minute, Albertson scored the game-winning goal as Tony Rocha and Blaine Gonsalves made some quick passes and each picked up an assist. Albertson scored again just over seven minutes later to give the Golden Hurricane a 3-0 lead at the break.
