Final Stats

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 12th-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team suffered its first Missouri Valley Conference loss of the season with a 1-0 setback against Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky.

Defense ruled the first half, as both teams were kept off the scoreboard. Tulsa (10-4-1, 4-1-1 MVC) outshot the Hilltoppers (7-7-1, 4-2 MVC) 10-6 in the period. Richard Mupfudze paced the Hilltoppers with three shots, including two on goal. Sophomore Cary Wicker and freshman Brian McCurdy each had two shots for the Golden Hurricane.

Western Kentucky finally broke the scoreless tie in the 63rd minute when a cross by Jacob Isenhour was deflected by Mupfudze onto the foot of Marc Walters. Walters then fired a shot from 15 yards out that snuck into the bottom left corner of the net, giving the Hilltoppers a 1-0 lead. The Hilltopper defense held on from there, and goalkeeper Daryl Sattler posted five second-half saves as Western recorded the victory.

The Golden Hurricane out shot WKU 20-11 for the match, putting nine shots on goal, but Sattler played an outstanding match in goal, recording eight saves for his third shutout of the season.
