Tulsa falls in Double OT to Marshall, 2-1 Oct. 29, 2011
Huntington, W.Va. - The Tulsa men's soccer team dropped a 2-1, double-overtime decision to Marshall Saturday evening. The Golden Hurricane fell to 5-11 on the season and 1-6 in Conference USA, while the Thundering Herd improved to 8-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the league. Marshall took the early lead with a marker in the 23rd minute from Devin Perkins off an assist from Carl Munday. Tulsa equalized in the 53rd minute when sophomore Tom Gaus scored off an assist from freshman striker Stephen Roberson. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw throughout the remainder of the game and needed extra time to decide the outcome. Marshall was able to find the back of the net in the second OT in the 108th minute, and the Thundering Herd stole a victory following Perkins' second goal of the game. Jordan Hilgefort assisted on the game-winner. Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Murray allowed two goals and saved five shots in 108 minutes of action. Daniel Withrow picked up the win for Marshall after saving six shots and allowing one goal. Tulsa will close out the season at home on Friday, Nov. 4th against UAB.
