Tulsa Men's Soccer Team Posts 6-0 Win Over FIU

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's soccer team registered a 6-0 victory over FIU on Wednesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane moved to 10-2-2 on the season and 4-0-2 in Conference USA, while the Golden Panthers fell to 2-11-2 overall and 2-5 in the league.
Chris Clements picked up his second goal of the season off a corner kick taken by Jose Parada in the 11th minute to give TU an early lead. In the following 20 minutes, TU's Joe Salem, Hunter Christiansen and Parada each tallied a goal to put the Golden Hurricane up 4-0 heading into the break.
Parada recorded his second goal of the night at the 76:28 mark for five goals on the season, while Ashley McInnes punched in a goal with just over two minutes left in the contest for the 6-0 victory. Junior Eric DeFreitas played a big role in the victory as he had three of the six assists.
"Both teams came out attacking," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "It was back and forth in the first half, but our discipline, concentration and defensive pressure helped us get an early lead."
The Golden Hurricane out-shot the Golden Panthers 25-10, including a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Dominic Cervi earned five saves on the night, while FIU's Kyle Thomas posted three saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 3 against Marshall. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Huntington, W.Va.
