TU Men's Soccer Suffers 2-1 Loss to #11 Creighton in MVC Tourney First Round

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 11th-ranked Creighton Bluejays broke a 1-1 tie with 24 seconds left in the game when Peter Henning headed the game-winning goal off a free kick to defeat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 2-1, in a Missouri Valley Conference Tournament first-round game at Tranquility Park in Omaha, Neb.
Tulsa completes the 2000 campaign with a 10-7-2 overall record and a 5-4-2 mark in MVC play. Creighton (16-3, 9-2 MVC), the MVC regular season runner-up, will advance to the Valley semifinals at SportPort in St. Louis, Mo.
Playing in very windy conditions, both teams battled through a scoreless first half before Creighton got on the board at the 58:28 minute mark in the second half when Brian Mullan blasted a shot past TU sophomore goalkeeper Brent Salter from 16 yards out.
Tulsa senior Robbie Aristodemo responded at the 73:50 mark when his shot from 18 yards out found the back of the net to knot the game at one goal apiece. The goal was Aristodemo's seventh of the season.
Henning's game-winning goal came at the 89:36 minute mark when David Wagenfuhr sent a free kick toward the Tulsa net and Henning was there to finish the play with a header past Salter.
