Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's soccer team will open the 2000 season this Friday at 7:35 p.m. against Pac-10 Conference member Oregon State at McAuliffe Field (6501 S. Garnett). Admission to the event is free.

For the first time since the 1996 season, and just the seventh time in 20 years, Tulsa will open the season at home. The contest will mark the first meeting between the Hurricane and the Beavers.

Tulsa (0-0-0), which returns 13 letterwinners, including eight starters from last year's 9-8 team, enters its first season of the new millennium by traveling back to the past. The Hurricane, which begins its 20th season of men's soccer, enters its second tour of duty as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference in 2000. TU returns to the MVC after spending the last four seasons as a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Tulsa was an original member of the Valley from 1991-95.

Oregon State (0-0-0) returns 12 letterwinners and seven starters from last season's 5-12 squad. OSU battled to a 0-0 tie with BYU in its only exhibition match. The contest also marks the season opener for the Beavers.
