TU Men's Soccer Team Nets 3-1 Victory over Wisconsin in Season Opener

Madison, Wis. -Hunter Christiansen and Todd Goddard combined for three goals in the second half, to give the Tulsa men's soccer team a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin on Friday night at the Middleton Sports and Fitness Invitational in Madison, Wis. The contest was the first of the season for both teams.
The Badgers' Brian Bultman gave Wisconsin an early lead with his goal at the 9:11 mark, but TU didn't give up. In the second half, Christiansen punched in a goal at the 55-minute mark to tie the game. With just over seven minutes to play in regulation, Goddard gave Tulsa the go-ahead score and then added a second goal in the 84th minute.
"We did a good job of not giving in after getting down early," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "In the second half we earned more possession time and created more scoring opportunities. Wisconsin is a very good team and to earn a win today on the road will help us build confidence for the rest of the season."
TU's Dominic Cervi logged 90 minutes in goal and picked up three saves.
TU will take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the tournament on Sunday, September 2nd beginning at noon.
