Tulsa Men's Soccer Team Sweeps Conference USA Weekly Honors

Irving, Texas - Tulsa sophomore forward Cristian Mata and senior goalkeeper Cody Mumma were named as the Conference USA Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced today by the league office.
Tulsa's ninth-ranked men's soccer team went 2-0 in the Holiday Inn City Center Golden Hurricane Classic to claim the tournament title. TU defeated Ohio State, 4-1, and SIU-Edwardsville, 2-0, en route to the title.
Mata had a pair of goals and a pair of assists on the weekend in the Hurricane Classic. For his efforts, Mata was named as the tournament MVP and was tabbed to the all-tournament team. He had five shots, including four on goal, one goal and one assist against Ohio State, and then followed up that performance with seven shots, four of which were on goal, one goal and one assist against SIU-Edwardsville.
Mumma played all 180 minutes between the posts for Tulsa in the tournament. He recorded four saves and one shutout, while allowing one goal against Ohio State. For his efforts, Mumma was named to the Hurricane Classic all-tournament team.
This was Mata's third weekly league honor and Mumma's first accolade.
