Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's soccer team is hosting the Level 3 Golden Hurricane Classic, this Friday and Sunday, Sept. 14 and 16, at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium on the TU campus.

In the first game of the tournament and the first home contest for Tulsa this season, the 23rd-ranked Golden Hurricane will take on 18th-ranked Virginia Tech beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. The Golden Hurricane and Hokies have only met once in school history, a 4-3 double-overtime victory for TU in 2005. The TU-VT game has been selected as the Game of the Week and will be broadcast live on the Fox Soccer Channel.

Tulsa is off to a great start this season, boasting a 3-1 mark, with wins over Wisconsin (3-1), Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2-1) and Georgetown (1-0), while the Golden Hurricane's only loss came at the hands of third-ranked Virginia (2-0). This is TU's best start since opening with a 3-1 mark in 2003, a year that saw Tulsa advance to the NCAA Tournament second round.

Virginia Tech also enters the contest with a 3-1 mark, including a three-match win streak with victories over St. Johns (2-1), #19 Clemson (2-1) and Adelphi (5-1). The Hokies one loss of the season was a 4-0 decision to VCU. Virginia Tech advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight time last season, but dropped a 2-1 decision to UNC Greensboro in first round action.

The Golden Hurricane will also take on interstate rival Missouri State in the tournament, which is set to kick off on Sunday at 2:35 p.m., while Virginia Tech and Oral Roberts will take to the field at 11:30 a.m.
