Tulsa's Pore Named to CollegeSoccerNews.com National Team of the Week
Sept. 15, 2003
Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa sophomore Ryan Pore added two more awards to his already distinguished career today. Pore was named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com National Team of the Week, and was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the week.
Last week at the SMU Mi Cocina Classic in Dallas, Texas, Pore scored all three goals for No. 21 Tulsa in a 3-2 win over No. 24 New Mexico, and then helped TU to a 2-1 double overtime victory over Oral Roberts the following day. For his efforts, Pore was also named to the all-tournament team.
Pore notched his first career hat trick with three goals against No. 24 New Mexico and became the eighth player at Tulsa to register three or more goals in a single game. He is the first player to turn the trick since the 1999 campaign when former Golden Hurricane forward Kyle Smith (1997-2000) tallied all three goals for TU in a win at TCU.
Pore joins teammate Kyle Brown as the only two Golden Hurricane Players to be named to the National Team of the Week. Brown received the same honor last season. Pore is the second Tulsa player to receive the MVC's weekly honor this season. Junior Terry Boss picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors two weeks ago.
Pore and the Golden Hurricane are ranked No. 20 in the nation in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America top-25 poll with a 5-1 overall record. He currently leads the team and all MVC players in scoring with six goals and two assists for 14 points.
