Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa's ninth-ranked men's soccer team will open up Conference USA play against Old Dominion on Saturday, Sept. 28th beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, while all youth (under 8th grade) wearing a soccer jersey get in free.

The Golden Hurricane has a 5-1-1 overall record and has not lost a game since the season opener against sixth-ranked Creighton on August 30th. Tulsa has scored 17 goals and had 144 shots compared to its opponents six goals and 83 shots.

TU ranks among the nation's top-25 teams in six categories so far this season, including eighth in total goals (17), 10th in scoring offense (2.43), 11th in points per game (6.86), 12th in total points (48), 20th in won-lost-tied percentage (0.786) and 22nd in total assists (14).

Cristian Mata leads the way, scoring six goals and adding four assists for 16 points. Kyle Cumings has tallied three goals, while Tony Rocha, Akeil Barrett, Omar Mata and Bryce Follensbee have all netted two goals. Barrett also has four assists to match Cristian.

Cody Mumma has played in five games for a total of 409:29 minutes in goal, 17 saves and two shutouts this year, and Jake McGuire has logged 249:17 in three games for six saves and one shutout.

 

 

Old Dominion enters the contest with a 3-2 mark, including a 5-0 win over Virginia Military Institute in their last contest. ODU is led by Tim Hopkinson who has scored over half the teams' goals with six. Ivan Militar has totaled two goals and two assist as the second leading scorer. Sean Stowe has played the majority of minutes in goal, has just six saves and allowed five goals.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams on the men's soccer pitch.
