TU Soccer Teams to Host Soccer Doubleheader This Sunday Sept. 30, 2000 Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's and women's soccer teams will battle two of the nation's top-25 teams this Sunday at McAuliffe Field (6501 S. Garnett). The TU women's squad will host #24 SMU at 12 noon with the Tulsa men's team following at 2:35 p.m. against #9 Creighton. Admission to the event is free. The TU women's team is 6-3-1 overall and has won three out of its last four outings. Tulsa posted a 2-0 shutout victory over TCU in the WAC opener this past Friday. Sophomore Julie Twellman leads Tulsa in scoring with eight goals and three assists for 19 points. SMU (7-3, 1-0 WAC) rallied to defeat UTEP, 1-0, in overtime this past Friday to capture its first conference win of the season. The Mustangs lead the overall series with Tulsa, 12-1-1. The Ponies are ranked as high as No. 24 nationally in the Soccer Buzz poll. The Hurricane men's team has won three straight games entering Sunday's contest against Creighton. TU is 6-2 overall and 1-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play after posting a 3-1 decision over Drake this past Friday in the conference opener for TU. Senior Eric Domingeuz leads the Hurricane in scoring with seven goals and four assists for 18 points.
Creighton (6-2, 0-1 MVC) began the season with six straight wins, but has suffered back-to-back losses in its last two contests. The Bluejays lost to #16 Southwest Missouri State, 2-1, in Springfield. CU leads the overall series with Tulsa, 9-4-1.
