Tulsa's Cumings Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week
Oct. 1, 2012
Irving, Texas - Tulsa forward Kyle Cumings was named as the Conference USA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced today by the league office. This was Cumings' first weekly honor and the fourth for the Golden Hurricane this season.
"Kyle fed Cristian [Mata] for one of his goals against Creighton and then Cristian returned the favor against Marshall," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "Kyle's work rate has been tremendous up front. He is been a threat in every one of our games since he got into the starting lineup. He is in there because of his quality of his movement and work rate. He is creating chances for himself and for his teammates. It is great to see someone who has worked so hard for this opportunity and is getting the most for it."
A junior from Des Moines, Iowa, Cumings had two shots, both of which were on goal, and scored the game-winning goal against Marshall, while recording an assist against #11 Creighton last week. Cumings' goal came in the 17th minute against the Thundering Herd as he led Tulsa to its fourth-straight win and gave the Golden Hurricane a 2-0 mark in C-USA. Cumings has two goals and three assists for seven points on the year.
