Tulsa's Pais Named as C-USA Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 22, 2012
Irving, Texas - Tulsa goalkeeper Mark Pais has been named as the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced today by the league office. This was Pais' second weekly accolade this season as he was also tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week on September 24th.
"I am honored because there are a lot of great goalkeepers and defensive players in this league," Pais said. "This is really a great honor for our team because I couldn't do it without them. They are just as big of a part of getting these wins and the results that we get as I am. They make as many big plays throughout the game. I feel like my defense and the team as a whole has really grown over the season. There is always something we are working on and our coaches do a great scouting report that really helps us prepare for each game."
Pais, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., played all 180 minutes between the posts, helping TU post wins over UAB (2-1) and UCF (3-1). He recorded six saves against the Blazers and one save against UCF. Pais has logged 1,367 minutes in goal, picked up 53 saves and has five shutouts on the year. He has a 1.18 goals-against average and a .746 saves percentage.
