Tulsa Men's Soccer Team to Face UAB in C-USA Championship Semifinals

The 29th-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team earned a No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the Conference USA Championship and will face No. 6 seed and host UAB in the semifinals on Friday, November 9th. Game time is set for 7:30 pm at Regions Park in Birmingham, Ala.
The Golden Hurricane (11-5-1, 5-2-1 C-USA) recorded a 2-1 victory over UAB (9-6-2, 4-4 C-USA) in the regular season game, which was played in Birmingham.
In the seven-year history of the Conference USA Men's Soccer Championship, Tulsa has tallied an 11-3-2 overall record in the tournament. The Golden Hurricane won the tournament in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and also played in the title game in 2005 and 2010.
TU ranks seventh in scoring offense (2.35 gpg) and total goals (40), is 13th in total points (111), 31st in total assists (31), and 33rd in won-lost-tied percentage (.676) among the nation's best. The Golden Hurricane is led by C-USA Freshman of the Year Cristian Mata, who has a team best 12 goals and four assists for 24 points. Bryce Follensbee has netted eight goals, while Omar Mata has six goals and Akeil Barrett has five. Mark Pais has played every minute in goal, recorded 63 saves and has five shutouts on the year.
The Blazers are led by Kofi Gyawu and Mladen Lemez with six goals apiece, while Karl Chester and Chase Wickham have netted five goals each. Raphael Ville has played the full 1,677 minutes in goal, earned 65 saves and has three shutouts on the year.
