FALL OF 2001 – Closed out the fall season with a 4-5 singles mark and doubles record of 0-1. JUNIOR (2000-2001) – Won a career-high 23 singles victories, which were the second most on the team . . . finished with a singles dual mark of 18-7 and was 13-2 at the No. 6 singles spot . . . his 23 singles wins ranks 12th on TU’s single-season chart . . . was a two-time WAC Player of the Week performer during the spring . . . was 8-7 in doubles . . . registered a 5-2 singles mark and a 4-3 doubles record during the fall season . . . finished 3-0 at the Hurricane Invitational . . . was 1-1 at the Arkansas Invitational and the All-American Championships. SOPHOMORE (1999-2000) – Recorded an 8-9 singles record and a 15-16 doubles mark despite an injury-plagued season . . . was 2-2 in singles at the No. 5 position . . . was 5-5 in singles and 8-6 in doubles with partner Shri Sudhakara during the fall campaign . . . captured two doubles victories with Sudhakara at the Hurricane Invitational . . . advanced to the second round of doubles at the 1999 ITA Regional Championships. FRESHMAN (1998-99) – Completed his first season with a 15-17 singles mark, including a 4-2 WAC record . . . was 14-14 in doubles with Sudhakara . . . was the 24th ranked singles player in Region V . . . after starting out 0-3, won four of his last six matches during the fall season . . . teamed with Andres Antezana to advance to the second round of the 1998 ITA Regional Championship . . . won three straight singles matches at the 1998 ITA All-American Championship to advance to the round of 64 in the prequalifying round. PRIOR TO TULSA – Was an all-state selection at Bonanza High School . . . played in the American Nationals in 1998 . . . finished third at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament . . . prior to moving to the United States, represented South Africa in the U14 African Championships . . . was a two-time member of the South African team. PERSONAL – A finance major . . . a three-time member of the TU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll . . . one of three children of David and Sharon Monk . . . born June 17, 1980.
