Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season with a 7-0 win against cross-town rival Oral Roberts on Thursday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Hurricane cruised past the Golden Eagles winning all six singles matches and taking two out of three doubles contests.

Tulsa's fourth-ranked duo of Arnau Brugues and Philip Stephens knocked off ORU's Oleksandr Kotsuik and Dmitry Suslov, 8-5, in No. 1 doubles, while Patrick Collins and Rusty Turpin defeated Peter Sullivan and Dario Beslic, 8-5, in No. 3 doubles to give TU the early 1-0 lead.

The Hurricane dominated in singles winning all six matches without losing a single set. Arnau Brugues, ranked No. 10 in nation, defeated Oleksandr Kotsuik, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 1 singles, and Philip Stephens, nationally-ranked No. 92, beat Alexander Dargel, 6-0, 6-4, in the No. 2 position.

Freshman Ashley Watling won his first collegiate tennis match in dominating fashion with a 6-0, 6-0, win over Andrey Savin in No. 4 singles.

Tulsa takes the court again at tomorrow to face Conference USA opponent UCF at 6 p.m. from the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
