No. 25 TU Men's Tennis defeats No. 30 Drake 4-1 and Illinois State 6-1 Sunday

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team went 4-0 over the weekend, including two ranked opponents, after it defeated No. 30 Drake, 4-1, and Illinois State, 6-1, on Sunday.
Japie De Klerk, Dylan McCloskey and Alejandro Espejo led TU with 3-0 records apiece over the weekend, while Daniel Santos went 2-0. Overall, the Golden Hurricane went 17-2 (.895) in singles matches over the weekend.
Doubles team of Clifford Marsland/McCloskey and De Klerk/Espejo went 3-0 each, while the Hurricane recorded an 8-1 (.889) over the weekend.
No. 25 Tulsa 4, No. 30 Drake 1
No. 25 Golden Hurricane started the match winning the doubles point as TU went 2-1 in the three doubles matches. Clifford Marsland/Dylan McCloskey defeated No. 8 doubles team of Robin Goodman/Ravi Patel 6-1 followed by Drake's doubles team of Matt Frost/Ben Mullis defeated TU's doubles team of Carlos Bautista/Daniel Santos 6-4.
The doubles point came down to the match of TU's Japie De Klerk/Alejandro Espejo and Drake's Alen Salibasic/Ben Lott to decide the first point of the match. The Golden Hurricane won the match, 6-4, to go up 1-0 over Drake.
Espejo won the first singles match 6-1, 6-2 over Matt Frost, followed by De Klerk's 6-1, 6-4 win over Alen Salibasic to give TU a 3-0 lead.
Drake came back as Robin Goodman defeated Bautista, 6-3, 6-4 to get the Bulldogs on the board, down 3-1. It was the first point TU has lost this season.
Marsland ended the match with the fourth point as he defeated Ben Lott 6-5 (7) 5-6 (5), 6-2.
No. 25 Tulsa 6, Illinois State 1
The Golden Hurricane returned to the court to face Illinois State at 6 p.m. and won the doubles point for the fourth time this season.
TU doubles team of Alejandro Espejo/Japie De Klerk defeated Jacob Wilson/Urh Kranjnc Domiter 6-2, followed by Clifford Marsland/Dylan McCloskey's 6-3 win over Jakub Eisner/Rolando Torrellas to clinch the doubles point.
Santos won the first singles match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Dylan Steffens, followed by Espejo's 6-2, 6-1 win over Rolando Torrellas.
McCloskey won the fourth point of the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rolando Torrellas, followed by De Klerk's 6-3, 6-1 win over Jakub Eisner.
No. 71 Carlos Bautista defeated Urh Kranjnc Domiter 6-5 (1), 6-0 and Juan Carvaja fell to Rodrigo Oliveira 6-4, 6-5 (5).
The Golden Hurricane returns to action on Saturday at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Norman, Okla. TU faces Northwestern at 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by either Oklahoma or Virginia Tech on Sunday.
