NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis fell to Virginia Tech at the International Tennis Association Kick-off Weekend at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion in Norman, Okla.

After losing the first doubles point all season on Saturday, No. 24 Golden Hurricane (4-2) won the doubles point over No. 37 Virginia Tech (3-1). TU got wins from Japie De Klerk/Alejandro Espejo, 6-2 over Hunter Koontz/Joao Monteiro at the No. 2 doubles position, and from Clifford Marsland/Dylan McCloskey, 6-3 over No. 23 Andreas Bjerrehus/Amerigo Contini at the No. 1 doubles position.

The Golden Hurricane increased its lead to 2-0 after a McCloskey's 6-2, 6-4 win over No. 122 Aaron Gomez at the No. 5 singles position.

Virginia Tech tied the score at two after wins from the No. 1 singles position and from No. 6 singles position.

Marsland gave TU the lead, 3-2, after a 6-3, 6-5 (4) win over No. 60 Andreas Bjerrehus at the No. 2 singles position.

The Hokies tied the score at three after a win from the No. 4 position and won the match with a win at the No. 3 singles position, 4-3.

Marsland's two wins over the weekend gives him 73 career singles wins, which ties him 10th most in school history.

The Golden Hurricane returns home with a match against No. 12 Pepperdine on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
