Tulsa Drops Tight Match to No. 19 Texas

The Golden Hurricane's Ricardo Soriano battled to a 1-1 split in the first two sets, but fell short in the final set, losing to the Longhorn's Luis Diaz-Barriga, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Tulsa took the early 1-0 lead when the duo of Ross Cunningham and Diego Camacho notched an 8-5 win, while Andy Connelly and Lucques Maasdorp grabbed an 8-3 win. Texas evened the score when Josh Zavala handed TU's Cunningham a 6-3, 6-4 loss, and moved ahead, 2-1, when Dimitar Kutrovsky took a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 decision from Federico Soriano. The Golden Hurricane tied the score at 2-2 when No. 6 ranked nationally Arnau Brugues defeated Miguel Reyes Varela 6-2, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4). UT regained a 3-2 lead when Milan Mihailovic handed Will Gray a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 loss, but TU responded when Diego Camacho was victorious over Jon Weigand, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Tulsa will be back in action on February 11 when it hosts No. 25 California at 3 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
