The No. 17-ranked Tulsa men's tennis squad picked up a 4-1 victory over No. 68 TCU on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Golden Hurricane improved its record to 4-4 on the season, while the Horned Frogs fell to 5-3.
In doubles play, TU was led by the top portion of its lineup, as Clifford Marsland and Alejandro Espejo defeated Will Stein and Nick Chappell 8-5 at No. 1 Doubles. At No. 2 doubles, The senior duo of Grant Ive and Tristan Jackson earned a 8-7 (7-5) triumph over Max Stevens and JT Sundling.
Tulsa was dominant in singles play as it won or led in five of the six matches before play was halted. At No. 2 singles, Japie De Klerk, ranked No. 34 in singles, clipped No. 100 Arnau Dachs, 7-5, 6-4. No. 69 ranked Alejandro Espejo netted a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Facundo Logones at No. 3 singles.
Picking up the final win for TU was Carlos Bautista, who earned a come-from-behind triumph over Rodolfo Bustamante at No. 6 singles. After dropping the first set 7-6, (7-5), Bautista took care of business winning the final two frames 6-4 and 6-1.
The Golden Hurricane will begin a four-match road swing on Friday, Feb. 15, as TU faces Arkansas in a 5 p.m. tilt in Fayetteville.
