Tulsa Men's Tennis Drops Rival Razorbacks 4-3

Fayetteville, Ark. - The University of Tulsa's men's tennis team defeat central region rival Arkansas 4-3, in its first match away from the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in 2008. The victory moves TU's record on the season to 7-2.
The Golden Hurricane swept the doubles competition, winning two of the matches easily. The 15th-ranked pair of Arnau Brugues/Ricardo Soriano dispatches the Hogs' duo of Matt Hogan/Tyler Tarnasky without losing a game, 8-0. TU's No. 3 team also won handily as Alberto Sottocorno/Vitkor Kolik defeated Chris Nott/Dmitry Lebedev, 8-1. In the closest doubles match, the fifth-ranked duo of Andy Connelly/Ross Cunningham beat Blake Strode/Colin Mascall, 8-5.
Tulsa split with Arkansas in the singles portion. The Hurricane won positions No. 1-3, while the Hogs took positions No. 4-6. In the No. 1 position, TU's two-time All-American Brugues defeated No. 76-ranked Strode, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Victor Kolik playing in his first match at the No. 2 position beat Mascall, 7-5, 6-3. Senior co-captain Will Gray clinched the dual for TU with a 6-3, 6-4, victory over Nott. Doubles partners Connelly and Cunningham both lost after winning the first set. Connelly fell to Bradwin Williams, 0-6, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 6 position, while Cunningham lost to Lebedev, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Also losing was Sottocorno, who fell to Hogan, 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 4 position.
TU next travels to Auburn, Ala. to face the No. 21 Auburn Tigers on Sunday, February 17 at noon. The Golden Hurricane return home to face Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.
