TULSA, Okla. - After losing the doubles point, the University of Tulsa men's tennis team won the first four singles matches to win the match 4-3 over Arkansas at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Friday night.

It was a great match and it's always a great rivalry with Arkansas," head coach Vince Westbrook said. "I felt like we played pretty tough and they played very well against us and we prevailed."

No. 64 Arkansas (6-5) won the first doubles match at the No. 2 position, 6-0, but No. 34 Tulsa (7-5) tied the doubles after freshman Daniel Santos and sophomore Matthew Kirby's 6-2 win at the No. 3 position.

With senior Clifford Marsland and sophomore Dylan McCloskey was down 5-4 in the No. 1 doubles position and the duo came back to tie the set at five to force a tie-breaker, but the Razorbacks won the set 6-5 after winning the tie-breaker 8-6.

Arkansas won the first four points in the tie-breaker, but Tulsa battled back scoring the next three points to pull within one point, 4-3. Arkansas scored two of the next three points to extend its lead to 6-4, but TU scored the next two points to tie it at six before the Razorbacks scored the final two points to win the doubles point.

No. 74 Marsland got the Golden Hurricane on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 win at the No. 2 singles position and tied the match at one. No. 106 Japie De Klerk gave TU a 2-1 lead after a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 1 singles position.

Marsland's win was his 78 career singles wins, which moves him into ninth most in school history.

Santos extended the Golden Hurricane's lead to 3-1 after a 6-5 (6), 6-3 win at the No. 6 singles position and Alejandro Espejo clinched the match for Tulsa with a 5-6 (6), 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 3 singles position for a 4-1 TU lead.

Arkansas cut TU's lead to 4-3 after a win at the No. 5 and No. 4 singles position.

The Golden Hurricane continues its four-match homestand on Sunday against No. 50 Michigan State (4-4) at noon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
